As many as 450 free parking spaces are to be made available in Halifax every Saturday until after Christmas.
Calderdale Council Cabinet last night agreed that motorists should be able to park free at car parks at High Street, Mulcture Hall Road, Cross Hills and Victoria Street.

A survey has shown most spaces in these car parks are empty on Saturdays because they on the outskirts of town.

Conservative leader Stephen Baines (Northowram and Shelf) said the results of the experiment would be reviewed after Christmas.

No its because Halifax is a cr@phole and theres not that many people want to come here. I'm sure making them free will make all the difference in the world.

I agree LofB. I do all my shopping in centres where the parking is free all the time and cheap. Why come to halifax?
