A MAN shot dead was discovered by a couple returning home from Sunday lunch.
Daniel Gill told Leeds Crown Court Mian Shahid Mehmood was still breathing and murmuring when he found him.

Mr Gill was driving along Butts Green Road, Warley, Halifax, on February 11 last year with his partner and baby son, returning from Sunday
lunch at his mum's house.

As they approached the junction with Great Edge Road, a car came around the corner quickly, hesitated and reversed back.

Mr Gill said he thought the driver's behaviour was suspicious and as the car went back, his partner Louise Sharp saw a body behind it. The car followed them and the couple decided not to stop, but looped back round along Great Edge Road.

There they found Mr Mehmood.

Tom Bayliss, prosecuting, said: "There was no sign of blood, you were not to know that he had been shot in the back."

Two of Mr Mehmood's brothers-in-law are accus-ed of murdering Mr Mehmood in what has been branded an honour killing.

Arza Khan, 27, and Tahir Mahmood, 22, both of Parkinson Lane, Halifax, are charged with Naveed Mahmood, 23, of Granville Road, Sheffield; John Reeves, 54, of Adlington Road, Sheffield; and Sam Lee, 30, of Deerlands Avenue, Shef-field. All five deny murdering Mr Mehmood.

It is alleged he was shot after his wife's brothers took out a contract on his life because they dispproved of his secret marriage to their sister Yasmin Bibi Shahid Mehmood.

The court also heard that a third brother, who was on police bail, had fled to Italy.
