A young Calderdale band has failed to make the pop charts.
Ten Floors, a sixth-form band from Rastrick High School, was dreaming of being in the top 40 with The Apple Tree.

The download-only single was released last week and the band was hoping 4,000 downloads would have made the top 40.

But band spokesman Jack Nicholson said: "Unfortunately, Ten Floors didn't chart this time around.

"All is good though and the effort hasn't been in vain – Ten Floors have a lot more fans now and a lot more experience under their belt."

The band consists of Josh Carruthers, brothers Ste Brown, Jake Brown and Adi Bell. They are all 17 and had a busy promotional tour ahead of the release which costs 79p to download.

Click the green 'play' button to hear a sample of their single, The Apple Tree.

To be honest, i did find it quite amusing when i saw a completely unknown band do a press release saying "we want to be in the charts in a week!!". it sounds like something a little could would say to his mum. theres no way that an unknown local band could get 4,000 downloads, without having a major label promoting them, and a lot of advertising...did i forget to mention you have to have decent tunes? yes, these lads might be "alright" at what they do..in actual fact its more like musical wall paper, the kind of stuff youd play at a fondue party for elderly relatives. it might have a lot of enthusiasm behind it; namely parents, best mates, who all say "these will make it some day"!!....but sometimes you have to realise its not meant to be!! and before you tell me i dont know what im on about....believe me i do!!

haha. you idiot. myspace is free - charging 75p for new fans to listen to a single isnt going to work for a pub rock band is it now? is there any way of us finding out exactly how many downloads they got?!!!

Noone can fault the lads for giving it a go and i think it's unfair to write them off just yet on the back of not pulling 4000 downloads out of the bag in 6 days! that's one huge feat to acomplish! a 6 date promo tour? they visited 11 different towns/cities from september to november this year!! sounds like sour grapes from someone who has been there done that before....!

Hey I think its quite brave for these lads to have a go! I thought the song was good and downloaded it, in my eyes 79p is not alot and on there myspace you were able to listen to some full tracks too see if you liked them! I think ill be keeping my eye on these lads, they're only 17 who knows what'll come?? Enough is enough you say there is now way an unsigned band can make that, if you watched the news, 2 weeks ago a completley unsigned band made it into the top 20! And would you care to elaborate on how you know what you're on about?
