A sportsman's dinner raised funds for the new memorial stand planned for the Old Brodeians RUFC, Hipperholme.
Among the guests were rugby league star and New Zealand international Robbie Paul, and Liverpool comedian Johnny Kennedy brought laughter to the 130 diners.

Club chairman Richard Turner said it was a great night out which also included the auction of a British Lions shirt signed by Willie John McBride and Gareth Edwards.

Planning permission is now with Calderdale Council for the stand which will be built in memory of former players.

It is likely to cost £35,000 and hold 200 spectators - 70 seating and 130 standing.
