TAKE to the hills – that's the message from Calderdale members of the Ramblers Association who are urging people to get out into the open this summer.
The group has organised a series of walks for the next two months to promote hiking over the school holidays.
"We have lots of walks throughout the summer, anyone can come along. There are some lovely sights to see," said group member Diane Hall.
The walks range from leisurely two mile strolls around the countryside to 14 mile treks over hills and moors.
The group are also involved in conservation and protecting the footpaths and countryside.
"We do a lot of work on the footpaths to make sure they are safe and easy to go out and walk on," she said.
Over the last few weeks the amount of people attending the group's organised walks has been low, and Mrs Hall called for more people to get involved.
She said they would particulary like younger walkers to join and urged families to get in touch.
"We're always happy to see new members come along and take part in walking." she said.
"Summer is a great time for walking and the most popular time for people to come along."
