A TEENAGER is fighting for his life today following an horrific road smash.
The 18-year-old man is in a critical condition at Leeds General Infirmary suffering from injuries including a broken neck, fractured skull, bleeding in his skull and fluid in his brain after the accident in Todmorden on Saturday night.

The Honda C
ivic he was a passenger in careered into a lamp-post and a wall at the junction of Halifax Road and Shaw Wood Road at 10.45pm.
The impact was with such force that the lamp-post was knocked out of its fittings.

Firefighters from Halifax, Todmorden and Mytholmroyd, ambulance and police attended and the road was shut in both directions for several hours.

PC James Sandford, of Calderdale road traffic police, said: "It was a nasty crash, the car was completely written off and the passenger has suffered very serious injuries indeed."

The 19-year-old driver, who is also thought to be from Todmorden, is believed to be related to the victim.

He suffered minor injuries and was arrested on the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Anyone with any information about the crash can contact PC Simon Hall on 01422 337234.

I wonder if if this was the same type of people that i witness every day on the A647 usually driving honda civics, or mercs and range rovers doing 70-80mph overtaking others in our 30mph built up area?

in my opinion safety cameras and info is a waste of money because neither is obeyed there is no such thing
as a dangerous road its who uses it how many times have i been doing 30 i hasten to add only because i got fined for doing 35 only to be overtaken at 70
and on roads with cameras even gatscos --on the motorway and the speed in king cross is speeding up
so whats the use if i wasnt bothered about my licence--i wouldnt bother i would join the speeders
