A CHARACTER from Calderdale's past will be depicted in the council's entry at the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show at Tatton Park.
The Calderdale flower bed will celebrate the work and life of former Shibden Park gardener Tommy Topham.
It will show him surrounded by garden. tools. Among the plants used will be marigolds and the trumpet-like morning glory.
Shibden Hall manager Deborah Comyn-Platt came up with the idea after finding a picture of Tommy. She said the photo, above, inspired her to create the flower bed.
Gardeners at Manor Heath Park in Halifax are now working on the project. They have marked out the bed and are getting plants ready for the show in late July.
