ONLY one in five people working for Calderdale Council have full confidence in councillors, according to the latest staff survey.
The result has come as a surprise to council leaders who were seemingly unaware that their employees were so disgruntled.

A survey of nearly 1,500 members of the Calderdale Talkback Panel is now under way to see whether they would consider working
for the authority, what they think would be the main benefits and what they think could be done to improve the council's image.

Those results are due to be published at the end of April.

Labour group leader Tim Swift was disappointed with the outcome of the staff survey and described it as a "wake-up call."

"Most of our staff work hard on providing vital public services – they need to know their role is valued and supported by councillors.

"The problem is the way Calderdale Council is run at the moment. The only time many staff will talk to councillors is when there is a problem," said Coun Swift (Town).

According to the town hall union Unison the council "still has some way to go before becoming a model employer".

A Unison spokeswoman said: "This is a clear message that councillors need to be more concerned about their relationship with their employees."

Their staff think they are a bad employer, the public by a massive majority, say they have no confidence in them as Councillors.
The writings there on the wall, and everyone has seen this but them.
They are surprised!
We should be surprised at their sham blindness?

The majority of council staff will also live in calderdale, just because they work for cmbc it doesn't mean they have to have confindence in the way the councillors work, both in their work or in their personal lives. A lot of people in calderdale are unhappy with the council so not sure why they are shocked with the results!! unless they thought staff loyalty was in play!

if they was a real business their doors would been closed long ago

they need to do

1 wake up and kick the waste of space
2 look at the areas that need fixing e.g the roads/parking, shops. has if you do this more people will come and spend money and that money can be used to fix more and more problems. god its not hard

HX Fool - you certainly live up to your title.

If you feel the need to criticise and offer comments, I would suggest your first port of call would be a GCSE in English.

"If they was" Is this really how you speak?
"has if you do this" Please tell me no human actually speaks like this.
