Summing up has begun in the trial of a man accused of causing the death of a Brighouse teenager.
Craig Bergin, 20, of Shay Lane, Halifax, denies swerving his Vauxhall Tigra towards 19-year-old Naomi Gough's car in January 2007.
She lost control of her Clio on Burdock Way, Halifax, hit a crash barrier and died instantly.
Ben Crosland, prosecuting, claims Bergin was showing off to impress Miss Gough and her passenger Rachael Parr, then 21.
This week Miss Parr, who was hospitalised by the accident, told Bradford Crown Court Bergin tried to goad her into a car race.
Mr Crosland said: "These were not malicious acts aimed at causing Naomi harm. It was tomfoolery, showing off, but it was dangerous tomfoolery."
He added that other witnesses had told of Bergin's "exhibitionist and dangerous" driving.
Michael Goldwater, for Bergin, said Miss Parr, who grabbed the steering wheel of the Clio when she feared the car would plummet over the edge of the flyover, was the "primary cause" of the accident.
He said she had "reconstructed" events of the fateful day because she had feelings of guilt.
