Village's 50th charity gala

A VILLAGE celebrates its 50th charity gala on Saturday.
Up to 4,000 people are expected to converge on Shelf Hall Park, Shelf, for an afternoon of fun.

Walking groups and floats will parade along the A6036 Wade House Road and Halifax Road through the village at lunchtime and a host of attractions await in the park.

The procession will have a golden theme to mark the anniversary.

Gala secretary Sharon Hird said: "We have live music with the fantastic Sye and Friends and Pop Idol finalist Danny Tetley," she said.

There will also be Circus Antics and Show Steelers – a youth steel band – to keep the crowds entertained.

Gala timetable
11.30am Procession gathers at Interface car park
12.15pm Judging
12.45pm Leaves for Shelf Hall Park arriving 1.20 pm
1.30pm Gala queen crowning
1.45pm live entertainment starts
