A HEBDEN Bridge landlord says he fears for the safety of his new pub after an internet group created by former customers called for it to be ambushed.
More than 100 people on networking site Facebook were invited to descend on the Hole in the Wall Inn to cause "a night of mayhem".
The group, full of self-proclaimed "ruffians", were told to bring their stash – a drugs reference – so they could "take back our territory".
The pub reopened three weeks ago with new landlord Justin Pringle after being shut by owners Punch Taverns in 2007.
They vowed to turn the pub into their own "black hole".
Mr Pringle, who runs an IT business in the town, said: "This is a serious threat to the pub. There are people who are trying to scare us."
Mr Pringle, 35, added he hopes to transform the bar in Hanging Royd Lane into the town's premier music venue.
He plans to create five small bed and breakfast suites on the top floor of the massive three-storey building.
He said: "We've spent a lot of money restoring it and we won't be scared off.
"We've already barred a couple of them. We'll be installing CCTV and do absolutely everything to give Hebden Bridge the pub it deserves.
"Of course it's a worry because you hear about events being organised on the internet, such as house parties, which just get completely out of hand, but we won't let them win."
Mr Pringle said he had complained to Facebook but on Wednesday the thread calling for the ambush remained online.
Facebook was unavailable for comment.
After being approached by the Courier, the group creator, Kate Gibson, 20, said: "It was just a joke when we were bored. No harm has been meant."
