A WOMAN has died in an horrific car accident.
Firefighters had to free the 49-year-old woman from underneath her green Ford Focus at Watty Terrace, off Bacup Road, in Todmorden. She died at the scene of the accident.

It is believed the car was parked before rolling forwards and colliding with the driver.

The crews from Todmorden, Halifax and Bacup fire stations were called just before 3pm on Monday along with police who cordoned off the street.

John Davies, crew manager at Todmorden Fire Station, said they made sure the car was not moving and helped paramedics free the woman.

A neighbour, who said the victim lived locally, said: "She was a lovely woman, I used to see her every day. It's such a shock."

Police are still investigating the circumstances and have not yet released the name of the victim.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact PC 2997 Phil Eastwood in the Calderdale Collision Investigation team on 01422 337234.
