THE elderly woman killed when she was hit by a quad bike in Halifax town centre has been named today.
Irene Bryan, 75, died after the bike spun out of control after colliding with a taxi in King Cross Street at around 1.55pm on Tuesday. It hit the pensioner who was standing on the footpath.

The quad bike had been travelling up King Cross Street from Halifax when it was in collision with the silver Ford Mondeo taxi which was about to turn right into Regent Street.

Both Mrs Bryan and the quad bike rider were taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital where the bike rider is believed to be in a stable condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact PC 137 Good at Calderdale Roads Policing on 01422 337236.
