FATHER Christmas swapped his reindeer-pulled sleigh for public transport to help poorly children.

Santa teamed up with management and drivers from First in Halifax to donate toys to the children’s ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Youngsters there were also given selection boxes and nurses who will be working over Christmas were given free bus passes.

The money to pay for the gifts was raised by staff at First.

Will Pearson, operations manager, said he was incredibly impressed by the generosity of his team.

“To say I’m proud doesn’t really cover it,” he said.
