Owner, Catherine Hinton, said: “The day went extremely well. The sun shone on us for a second year and we managed to raise £4,200 for charity.”

The money will be split between Methodist Homes for the Aged, Action for Calderdale, Calderdale Pathways, Home and Overseas Missions, World Relief and Development Fund, Overgate Hospice and Teen Challenge.

Children enjoyed the wide range of stalls and activities on offer including a giant slide, face painting and a children’s choir.

There was also traditional maypole dancing and a barbecue.

The next open day at the gardens will be the Warley Garden Trail on June 12.
