A SPECIAL party was thrown in Illingworth, Halifax, to celebrate the 90th birthday of Alice Crabtree.
Family and friends gathered to mark the landmark birthday, including daughter Doreen, who travelled all the way from America to be with her.
Alice, of Illingworth, is a founding member of CREW Heart Support Group, a voluntary organisation set up to provide exercises and walks for people.
It is only in the last six months that the pensioner has given up her regular chair-based exercise programmes held at North Bridge Leisure Centre.
She is now the organisation’s oldest established member.
They presented her with a bunch of flowers and a special cake – Alice’s only presents after she asked people to convert all her gifts into donations for Macmillan Nurses, in memory of her daughter Margaret.
Alice also has two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Alice has one surviving daughter who lives in America, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
