Grim North Theatre will stage a multi-media version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as part of the RSC Open Stages project, at Hebden Bridge Little Theatre tonight and tomorrow at 8pm.
The dark re-imagining of Shakespeare’s classic text blends live performance, film footage, puppetry and live music.
Grim North has been creating original work since 2008. In this adaptation, the traditional language of Shakespeare has been thrust into a fantasy/horror setting, complete with clockwork fairies, tortured lovers and sadistic beings.
The mad doctor Oberon struggles to maintain order within the family of creatures he has created around him and his house is sent into disarray.
