THE taxi driver accused of causing the death of a 19-year-old girl collapsed during his first court appearance.
Jawaid Iqbal, 42, of Glenholme Heath, Halifax, spoke through an Urdu interpreter at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court.
He is charged with causing the death of Lisa Saville by driving dangerously in the early hours of Friday in City Lane, Wheatley.
At the end of the 15- minute hearing, Iqbal collapsed and had to be carried from the dock by four officers.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court on March 14.
