AFC Fylde v FC Halifax Town: Marshall relishing the big games

WITH 12 games of the season remaining starting at AFC Fylde this afternoon, the race for the Unibond One North title could not be any tighter.

Lancaster City lead the Shaymen by a single point with the two sides slugging it out toe to toe.

Both won in midweek, Lancaster seemingly about to take the honours as they went two-up at Prescot before James Dean struck deep into stoppage time to win it for Town at Clitheroe.

And the big frontman's strike partner Richard Marshall is loving every minute of the battle.

"There is a little bit of pressure, but you want to be playing under pressure," he said.

"And you want to be playing in front of our brilliant fans.

"No one wants to be going to away games and playing in front of 50 supporters.

"You want as many as you can get and they really gee us up.

"There are more and more coming every game and hopefully we can keep on winning."

There were 400 Town fans inside Shawbridge in midweek and they went home happy as Dean bagged the dramatic winner after Aaron Hardy had levelled from the penalty spot.

"We always knew we would get a goal on Tuesday then they scored," said Marshall.

"I was ready to score the equaliser when the keeper brought me down and Aaron Hardy stuck the penalty away.

"Then to score in the last minute was brilliant.

"Injury time felt like forever out there, but it was brilliant when Deano got the goal.

"I was so pleased when it went in."

How important Dean's strike proves to be in the final analysis remains to be seen.

But it certainly felt good for all concerned after the impressive home display against Colwyn Bay.

"It was a struggle on Tuesday after we had played well against Colwyn Bay on Saturday," admitted Marshall.

"We had to follow that game up with another three points and luckily, we did that

"Hopefully we can kick on."
