BUDDING young dancers were put throught their paces for an Arabian adventure.
More than 100 hopefuls aged eight to 16 attended as auditions for this year’s pantomime, Aladdin, got under way at the Victoria Theatre at the weekend. Director Robert Marsden, who also directed last year’s Sleeping Beauty, said: “We need to pick 24 kids at the end of this for the children’s chorus.
“They will dance on all the main numbers. The talent has just been fantastic.
“They have made it a really difficult choice for us to make.”
The hopefuls had to learn a short dance routine from choreographer Tom Ball.
“We just want to say a big ‘well done’ to all the dance teachers who have put in the hard work behind the scenes,” said Mr Marsden.
The panto runs from December 10 to January 2, 2012.
