An angry householder has hit out at the council after her drive was covered in sewage.
It’s not the first time Audrey Wood, of Norton Drive, Norton Tower, has suffered from effluent flooding her driveway.
She wrote to the Courier 18 months ago to complain of waste repeatedly spilling out of the drain.
Now Mrs Wood wants to know what the council are going to do about the problem, which she believes has been caused by houses in Roils Head Road being piped into the same drain.
She said: “We said all along that when the estate was built the sewer wasn’t big enough and wouldn’t be able to cope.
“My house was built in 1937 and when I bought it my solicitor told me this was a private sewer.
“If that’s the case, why weren’t we asked about connecting these houses to the sewer?
“The council spent three months digging holes to try and fix the problem but whatever they’ve done hasn’t worked. My drive is a mess and I’m absolutely sick of it.
“For some reason it only seems to come out of the drain on my drive.”
There are also issues over paying to have the drain unblocked and her drive cleared.
“I’ve paid to have it cleared twice and it has happened another three times. The council are supposed to send a bill to all the houses who use that drain telling them they have to pay, but that hasn’t happened.”
