It will continue to be very windy with gales today and possibly hail or thunder.

Sleet or snow could fall on hills and it will feel very cold.

Winds should ease overnight with some clear spells developing and showers largely dying out, but a few wintry showers are still likely.

Christmas Day could start with a slight frost for many.

There are strong winds on the M62 this morning between J21, A640 (Milnrow) and J23, A640 (Huddersfield). Matrix sign set to 50 mph.

A replacement bus service is running on Northern Rail between Hebden Bridge and Burnley Manchester Road due to engineering works.

Most trains are running normally today but there is still some disruption due to the weather on Virgin and Cross Country services.
