Police are appealing to the people of Calderdale to help find the mother of a newborn baby which was found dead in Bradford.
Officers have begun to widen their search for the parent of the baby girl, who was found in a waste treatment plant on Valley Road at 2.30am on Thursday.
Police say 97 loads of waste were delivered to the unit on Wednesday, 51 of which were from Bradford and the rest from elsewhere in West Yorkshire, meaning the mother could be from Calderdale.
Detective Superintendent Sukhbir Singh said: “Our focus continues to be to identify this baby’s mother and I would urge her friends, relatives and neighbours to contact West Yorkshire Police.
“Somebody in West Yorkshire must know who the mother of this child is and I would ask them to provide the key piece information we need to find her.
“We remain greatly concerned for the mother’s condition and welfare and want to ensure she gets the medical attention she deserves.”
Anyone with information should contact DS Ian Lawrie at the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team on 0845 60 60 606.
