COMMUNITY leaders in Brighouse have announced this year’s Diamond Jubilee Arts Festival.
The festial will run from August 23 to 31 to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and also celebrate creative arts in the local community.
As part of the festival, there will be visual arts, dance, drama, music and a series of workshops for people to make their own art.
The festival will also feature another Totally Locally market and some high profile performers including The Yorkshire Saxophone Choir and Chantel McGregor rhythm and blues band.
It will take place at a number of venues across Brighouse including The Central Methodist Church, The Smith Art Gallery and Library, The Salvation Army Citadel, St Martin’s Church and the Civic Hall.
A number of small and large businesses are also offering events including Prego which will produce A Night at the Opera, sponsored by Towngate PLC, Blakeleys will be hosting an exhibition of work by Sarah Glover, a young photographer who recently exhibited at the National Photographic Museum in Bradford.
Rokt Climbing Gym will also be hosting a raft-building morning on the canal.
On August 26, there will bea Party in the Park, with a painting event and a big draw event in the gallery, food outside, a brass band and street entertainment.
More events will be added.

We want to celebrate the idea of the creative arts within our region and to make them accessible for people of all ages and walks of life.
