Artists prove Calderdale’s Got Talent 2013

Performers proved they’ve got the wow factor as they showcased their acts in the final of Calderdale’s Got Talent 2013.

Ten acts battled it out in a Friday evening final held at The Venue, Barkisland, to be crowned competition champion and win £250.

14-year-old Indie-boy Joshua Maguire from Huddersfield was crowned champion of the talent contest with his impressive guitar playing.

Runner-up went to Hattie Butterworth, 13, of Elland.

Third place was awarded to Olivia Smith, 14, of Elland.

Organised by Natalie Johnston and Katie Porter at The Co-operative store, Stainland Road, Elland, all proceeds went to chosen charity Carers’ Trust. The £10 ticketed final admission and raffles raised £1,500.

Organiser Natalie said: “It was a really great night - everyone loved it very much. All of the acts put in a lot of effort and there really was great talent.”

The store are hoping to raise £4,000 for the charity.

“We’ve raised £3,000 so far - watch out for the next big event - Greetland staff will not be stopped from fundraising now we’ve had a taste of it.”

Natalie would like to thank The Venue for hosting the night and businesses who dontated prizes to the raffle.
