COULD this be Calderdale’s answer to Kate Moss?
Faye Wood, from Shelf, has been picked for the grand final of a national modelling contest.
The 16-year-old, who is in the sixth form at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School, beat thousands of other girls to reach the shortlist and could even be picked to take part in London Fashion Week.
Her mum, Michelle, said the teenager entered the competition after modelling for a friend’s store.
“She’s really excited,” said Mrs Wood. “She would love to be a professional model.”
Her mum believes Faye’s height has been a big help – she is currently around 5ft 9ins and could grow taller.
Faye will undergo some training before taking part in the commercial category of the grand final at the Hilton Metropole in London in March.
Organisers of the contest say previous winners have gone on to take part in major shows and 28 of last year’s finalists featured in London Fashion Week.
And the Woods could soon have two models in the family.
When they travelled to London for the competition auditions, Faye’s little sister, 14-year-old Rebecca, was spotted by a judge and told she should enter when she is old enough.
