Athletes from Stainland Lions Running Club took part in heart screening sessions organised by Calderdale’s Heartbeat of Sport.

Thirty-one runners were screened on the day.

Ex Halifax RLFC player and Heartbeat of Sport co-ordinator Tony Tonks, said: “Whether seasoned runners, new to the sport, any age or ability, athletes could have an underlying heart condition but athletes might not think of asking for ECG screening until there is a problem.”

Stainland Lions thanked Heartbeat of Sport for their expertise and time to test the athletes.
