A Halifax teenager will reach for the stars when she competes in the finals of a prestigious national beauty pageant.
Atlanta McBride, from Pellon, currently holds the title of ‘Miss Teen West Yorkshire Galaxy’, but hopes to be named the national champion at the grand final in February.
The pretty 17-year-old who is a student at Ryburn Valley High School, Sowerby, will compete alongside girls from across the country for the chance to take part in the Miss Galaxy International Final, held in the USA.
It’s the first time Atlanta has taken part in a pageant and after sending pictures and information in about herself, she was delighted to hear that she would be representing West Yorkshire on the national stage.
Judges were impressed by her hair, look and sense of style.
Atlanta, 17, said: “It’s given me more confidence as I’m usually quite quiet at school.
“I started looking into pageants and it was something I was quite interested in.
“It looks really fun and there’s lots of other girls from different areas.
“I’ve always been quite girly and watched programmes about them on television, but didn’t realise there was many in England.
“I’ve never been to America, so it would be really exciting to be given the chance to go.”
In the run up to the pageant, Atlanta will take part in a number of events to raise money for charity, prepare her all-important outfits and get to know the other finalists when she visits their events.
The winner of Miss Galaxy England will receive the opportunity to travel to America in the summer of 2015, in the hope of being crowned ‘Miss Galaxy International’.
