Businesswoman Claire O’Connor has been giving her customers the ‘pink’ carpet VIP experience.
The mother-of-four from Greetland who set up her own Babyballet academy, launched her first DVD with its characters, Twinkle the Bear, Flutterby the Fairy and Chuck the Cowboy, singing and dancing at Babyballet HQ in Square Road, Halifax.
Claire has 50 franchises across the country with almost 10,000 youngsters attending 779 classes, and has won numerous national and local awards since setting up Babyballet in 2005.
Her new DVD has already had rave reviews from child experts and parents alike. Like the classes it encourages youngsters to sing and dance in an educational way.
The DVD is split into three sections. Class favourites feature the characters and youngsters from her class singing and dancing. Flutterby and Twinkle also demonstrate the five positions of the feet in ballet and some simple stretching and exercise movements.
The most popular section is a panto style live show which was filmed at Square Chapel, Halifax, last year and involves audience participation.
This features singer, actor and comic, Neil Hurst of Halifax, as granddad Jack. The character is based on her dad, Jack, who died in May 2011.
She said: “There was a real buzz at the launch and a good atmosphere. It definetely exceeded all my expectations. It was really well attended and everyone had lost of fun even the adults.
“We had more than 100 people who enjoyed cupcakes and refreshments and the highlight was the interactive Babyballet characters.
“They performed some of their favourite songs from the DVD and all the children, and adults, joined in.
“We also had an activity corner and children were given a photograph of the characters which they then signed.”
