CALDERDALE’S MPs are backing a scheme to help get more young people into work.
The aim is to encourage businesses to take on a total of 100 apprentices in 100 days and has been set up by Calderdale Council. Halifax Labour MP Linda Riordan said: “Levels of youth unemployment have rocketed in the last two years and the sooner we can get young people back into work the better. This is an excellent scheme and I am delighted that the council has shown initiative.” Calder Valley Conservative MP Craig Whittaker said: “I expect to see this significantly increase the number of apprenticeships and help to reduce levels of youth unemployment. I am very happy to support it and I encourage local businesses to fully participate.”
