A GROUP of staff at Lloyds Banking Group in Halifax have raised £360 for the Calderdale Marie Curie Nursing Appeal.

The staff had read about the appeal in the Courier and decided to set about boosting its coffers themselves.

A fund-raising day was held in the Halifax office through the sale of food, cakes, DVDs and books and a quiz.

Ibrar Hussaing, HR advice consultant, who organised the day, said: “I read about the campaign in the Courier and decided to hold a fund-raising event for this worth cause. “Many people are affected by cancer and if we all make an effort to donate something, it will help enable the nurses to continue doing the super job they are doing.”

Sarah Brooks, Marie Curie community fund-raiser, said: “It’s fantastic to hear that the Calderdale Nursing Appeal is sparking such a desire in people to raise money for the charity.

“We would love to hear from anyone else who has been encouraged to help the appeal.”

The appeal is to fund the Calderdale nurses who care for people with terminal illnesses in their own homes.
