HALIFAX BINGO players are top of the shop after helping raise £420,000 for Marie Curie over the last two years.

The club is one of 98 Mecca Bingo clubs across the UK which took part in fundraising activities for the charity.

Graeme Ewart, general manager of Mecca Halifax, said: “I’ve been so impressed with the drive and enthusiasm team members have shown over the past two years, we shouldn’t forget that this impressive result is also down to our generous customers. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without them.”

Our local charity enthusiasts held a Hook a Duck event and quizes which they hope will raise over £200 on the day but local resisdents are encouraged to look out for more charity events in Halifax this year including the Great Daffodil Appeal, tombolas, raffles and collections. People can contribute by donating raffle prizes to Mecca Bingo.

Marie Curie provide free nursing care for over 31,000 terminally ill people in local communities across the UK.
