Black Dyke Band storm to victory at National Brass Band Championships

Black Dyke Band were crowned the winners of the 2014 National Brass Championships on Saturday evening.

The band, who are based in Queensbury, beat scores of other bands from across the country and wowed audiences in the splendour of the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The night was also a successful one for the Brighouse and Rastrick Band, who were placed third in the championships.

The championship event showcases the band world’s top talent and the event attracts more than 4,000 people each year to hear renowned ensembles battle for the UK’s top title.
