BOGUS workmen conned their way into a partially blind and deaf woman’s home.
The pair told the 62-year-old, of Backhold Drive in Siddal, Halifax, they were there to check the water supply.
One went into the kitchen and the other upstairs before they both escaped with cash.
They were described as white men with Yorkshire accents. One was 6ft tall, wearing dark clothing and quite well built.
The other was 5ft 8ins tall and of a smaller build.
Detectives are appealing for anyone saw the men at around the time of the theft, at 12.30pm on Thursday, to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Tony Nicholson, from Calderdale CID, said the culprits are preyed on a vulnerable woman.
He urged people to be vigilant when answering their door to people they do not know and to always ask for identification from any trades people who come to their homes. He said genuine workmen will be happy to show it.
Anyone with information that might help the police‘s investigation should call Calderdale CID on 337085 or Crimestoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.
