Bowls: Waiting game now for Calderdale
WITH their fixtures now completed, Calderdale stand proudly in top spot in the Federation Sixty-Plus Yorkshire League table.
But they cannot celebrate yet as Worth Valley could overtake them if they perform well enough in their final match against North Yorkshire at Lund Park tomorrow.
Worth Valley need to pick up 10 points to equal Calderdale, and if they are successful in winning all the eight individual games they would achieve that aim and take the title on the basis of their superior chalks difference.
In completing their final two fixtures, Calderdale lost to old rivals Leeds A in the morning match, both having four winners but Leeds had a two point chalk advantage (142-140) which gave them the two aggregate points and a 6-4 win.
In the afternoon match Calderdale beat Worth Valley A 6-4, again both teams having four winners but this time the aggregate score was in Calderdale's favour (150-142) in a game affected by the absence of key players who were at the Colwyn Bay Bowls Festival.
