A dog that was thrown into the river Calder earlier this month is on the lookout for a new home.

Bridget, named after Hebden Bridge, was rescued from the river after two people were seen throwing into the river.

She is now at kennels in Pateley Bridge, but Kathy Hirst, from the Yorkshire Rose dog rescue centre, wants the 12-month-old mastiff to find a new home.

She said: “Bridget would have been destroyed if we hadn’t rescued her. She’s still quite timid and bewildered but she’s in good hands. It was a terrible thing for anyone to do and then just walk away but hopefully she’ll find a good home.”
