Cake and candles were the order of the day as officers and youngsters from 3rd Halifax (Luddenden Foot) Boys’ Brigade Company celebrated a major milestone in the organisation’s history.

A special church service was held at the Luddenden Foot Civic Centre to mark 110 years of Boys’ Brigade in the village.

Andrew Dewhirst, an officer in Luddenden Foot Boys’ Brigade, said: “After some years of decline it is good to see the number of boys coming to Boys’ Brigade in Luddenden Foot increasing.

“We want the boys to get involved with all aspects of the Boys Brigade programme including games, craft, community, social and spiritual issues and we would be delighted if we could get more boys attending in order that we may be able to take part in more Battalion competitions.”

The organisation is looking for volunteers to give an hour a week.
