Bailiff Bridge Memorial Park, near Brighouse, has achieved top marks in the Green Flag Awards for 2012/13 – making it one of the best parks in the country.
The park scored over 80 per cent, putting it among the top 1 per cent in England and Wales and allowing it to retain the flag for a third year.
Calderdale Council looks after the park in partnership with Bailiff Bridge Community Association, volunteers and businesses.
The judges described it as “A lovely memorial garden which provides facilities for all the community. The enthusiasm of the park staff and volunteers is second to none. “
Brian Mansfield, a member of the community association, said: “It is with great pride and pleasure that we have once again secured the Green Flag award. Over many years the community has worked hard to achieve this great honour.”
