Mary Norton was surrounded by her family as she celebrated her 102nd birthday.
Mrs Norton, who lives at Sandholme Fold care home in Hipperholme, marked the big day by enjoying a lunch at Crow Nest Park Golf Club in Brighouse followed by a party at the home.
Mrs Norton was born in Brighouse and was one of the first pupils at Brighouse Girls Grammar School.
When she left school, she was secretary for Percy Bunce, who ran Sunny Vale Pleasure Gardens in Hipperholme.
She married Ernest in 1933 at Hipperholme Methodist Church and their reception was held at Sunny Vale Pleasure Gardens.
She has two sons - Geoffrey who lives in Vancouver and Dennis who lives in Leicester - and a daughter Jennifer who lives in Hove Edge.
She also has four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs Norton is an avid reader, and used to be a keen gardener. Her family say she is a very kind and caring person.
