Engineers from Yorkshire Water are at Range Lane in Boothtown to fix a burst water main.
Traffic lights have been put in place to control motorists while the repair is carried out today (Monday).
A spokesman for Yorkshire Water said: “We’d like to apologise to road users for any disruption they have suffered as a result of a burst on one of our water pipes.
“Thanks to the quick thinking of a local resident who notified us, we were able to get on site very quickly and we’re currently working hard to repair the burst and get everything back to normal.
“To help ensure the safety of motorists and our on-site team, two way traffic lights will be in operation whilst the repair is carried out, though we’d hope to have everything complete before this afternoon’s rush hour.”
