COMMUNITY chiefs in Hebden Bridge are on the hunt for business ‘angels’ to put the finishing touches on the town hall.

Hebden Bridge Community Association has been overseeing the town hall development which opens in eight weeks.

But four key areas in the building need furnishing - and the association is hoping generous businesses will donate the sponsorship of £5,000 for each room.

Each sponsor’s name will be recorded on a plaque in the room.

Sarah Lister-Blow, the association’s executive director, said: “We are now in the final stages of getting ready for the day when we will throw open the doors to the town hall extension for the first time and welcome everyone to make use of the new facilities. The last step before the will be to select the furniture for the public meetings rooms and lounges, and we’re hoping that there are four local businesses or benefactors who will be prepared to come forward to help us meet this cost.”

The appeal follows the example set by the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge, which made a generous donation of £10,000 to the town hall project which is being used to help equip the main kitchen in the building. Sarah said: “Although the association’s trustees have worked hard to get the funding we needed to enable the new town hall buildings to be constructed, we are also dependent on local support and goodwill. We’re determined that this important new addition to the town’s landmark town hall will be finished to the highest standards possible.”
