A Cambridge honour for Sasha's six
A LANGUAGE school in Hebden Bridge has chalked up more success with some of its students gaining qualifications from Cambridge University.
Sasha Goldsmith, who heads Rands, teaches people whose first language is not English and who want to improve their language skills for work or study while living in the area.
Five Polish migrant workers at Nestle have just passed their first certificate in English (FCE) at Cambridge University. They are Zabela Wisniewska, Radoslav Wisniewski, Iwona Michno, Krzysztof Swedrowski and Miroslaw Czajkowskialong. Dorota Czajak, one of Sasha's other students, also gained the qualification.
Sasha provides tuition for both private students and companies, uch as Nestle and the Leeds construction company. Tuition for the Nestle students was organised by Mark Heginbottom and Yvonne Bromyard from the Nestle Learning Centre.
Funding for the course was provided by the T and G Union.
Sasha said the certificate was a much sought- after internationally recognised qualification.
Teaching has always been a passion for her.
She said: "A goldsmith – my name – takes the raw material and makes something really beautiful.
"That's what I love about teaching. I look for the gold nugget potential in students and help them reach their potential.
"The word 'rand' is the weight measure for gold."
