A CALDERDALE firm is among the first to receive a MAS Works Award.

Witt UK Group has its headquarters at Holywell Green and two manufacturing sites locally.

The Manufacturing Advisory Service selected the firm for praise due to its outstanding improvements achieved with support from MAS.

MAS is funded by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills and provide support for manufacturing businesses to help them improve and grow.

Mark Prisk MP, Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, congratulated the company and said: “The Witt Group acts as a shining example to other manufacturers of what can be achieved, and highlights the importance of accessing support such as MAS in order to strengthen the UK manufacturing base.”

The Witt Group dates back to 1950 when it began supplying industrial fans to the then Atomic Energy Board and is still one of the foremost suppliers of fans to the nuclear industry.

Its expertise in axial and centrifugal fans has made it a market leader in specialised high performance sectors such as tunnels, quarries, underground car parks, crematoriums and ships.

The Witt Group comprises of Fans Systems Group, PSB, Witt UK and Alldays & Peacock.

It also has manufacturing and engineering plants in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and a joint venture in India.
