Board skills put duo in prize final
Two executives who amalgamated their boardroom skills to form a business transformation firm are helping companies overcome the recession.
Kate Hardcastle, from Holywell Green, and business partner Richard Gomersall, share years of experience in senior roles of companies including the Co-operative, Asda and Silentnight, and are now helping boost firms in Calderdale.
Among their clients are Elland-based Mish Mash Jeans.
Insight with Passion, only six months old, is now a Yorkshire finalist for the Barclays business and community awards – thanks to votes from its clients.
The duo, specialists in communication and analysis, have been responsible for turning around national brands in the past, using their specialist skills in business strategy and marketing.
They pride themselves on giving companies direction and confidence to go beyond their expectations.
"We are already seeing results," said Kate.
"One retail chain now has a 14 per cent year on year increase. To have results like that is fantastic.
"Both Richard and I have been round the board tables before so we really understand.
"Different businesses need different help in different ways."
With some firms help is a once a month pulse-check whereas with others it's constant contact.
Richard said the key is to see the human face of every business they are helping and ensuring each company gets its workforce behind its strategy.
"We would be delighted to work with more local businesses," added Kate.
"It's exciting when you find out about wonderful businesses based here and help put them on the national scale.
"A lot of our work is national so on a local level many people don't even know we are here."
Kate has 15 national business awards to her name and is the founder of the Charity Dreamgirls, a community project which raises awareness of charities.
