A Business Buddies networking group to benefit businesses in Elland and Huddersfield is up and running.
It was started by accountants Sleigh and Story and Berties which hosted the meeting at its Elland premises.
Sleigh and Story set up Brighouse Link two years ago and wanted to expand on the networking and training advantages which resulted from that. Director Peter Sleigh said the success of Brighouse Link prompted the idea for similar opportunities for businesses in Elland and the surrounding area.
He said he had a chance meeting with Louise Bonnar from Berties which wanted to connect to companies and that is how the group was formed. More than 50 businesses attended the first meeting at which there was a presentation lunch and informal networking.
The speaker was David Cooper, a businessman who sold his coffee empire for a substantial amount in 2011.
He shared the reasons behind his success with the audience and gave an insight into how other businesses could be successful.
Sleigh and Story director Debbie Story said: “David’s presentation was excellence and we had brilliant feedback.
“The next meeting has been set for March 26 and this will involve table shuffle networking which allows each business to talk to each other and make those vital connectionsl.
“It is a format that has proved very popular at Brighouse Link.”
