Calderdale set for cold and wet day

Calderdale is set for a cold day today (Thursday), with spells of rain.

Residents should expect lows of 6C and highs of 8C. Wind speeds will reach up to 8 miles per hour.

Meanwhile traffic is starting to build on the major roads in and around Calderdale.

There are heavy delays on the A646 Burnley Road at Luddenden Foot because of utility works closing one side of the carriageway. Temporary traffic lights are in operation, but motorists should expect delays of at least five minutes.

Traffic on the A58 Wharf Street in Sowerby Bridge is busy but moving in both directions at the A6129 Tuel Lane junction.

Traffic on the A629 Cow Green in Halifax is busy but moving in both directions at the Bull Green junction.

Traffic on the A58 Aachen Way in Halifax is busy but moving at the Queen’s Road junction.

There is heavy traffic on the A58 Bolton Brow in Sowerby Bridge around the A6026 Wakefield Road traffic lights junction.

Traffic on the A629 Calderdale Way in Elland is busy but moving in both directions at the A6025 Halifax Road junction.

On the A641 Huddersfield Road in Brighouse traffic is busy but moving outbound at the Bethel Street junction.

There are no reported problems on the buses or trains.
