Charnock-Bates sells property worth £2.4 million in two days

A Calderdale agent sold property worth £2.4 million in the last two working days before Christmas Day.

Stewart Charnock-Bates hopes it’s a sign that an uplift in the housing market is round the corner for 2013.

He said the festive season is traditionally quiet but his business continued to strive to agree sales right up to party time.

“I closed the last sale at just before 7 pm on Christmas Eve and popped open a well deserved bottle of champagne.

“I hope this is a good sign for the coming year.”

He predicted the property market in 2013 would face continuing challenges.

“But whilst there is positive economic news and unemployment reducing it is likely these feel-good factors will also benefit the property market.

“At the same time it is necessary for vendors to be optimistic and banks to keep their doors open for business.

“And then 2013 promises to be one small step out of this prolonged recession.”
