Daniel’s ‘appy with new game

Daniel Rice, 15, from Crossley Heath school, has created a new iPhone app called Sort the Mail.

Daniel Rice, 15, from Crossley Heath school, has created a new iPhone app called Sort the Mail.

A 15-year-old entrepreneur from Halifax is hoping to deliver the next big iPhone app with his new game.

Daniel Rice, from Skircoat, has created ‘Sort The Mail’, in which a postman is helped to deliver the post against the clock to a whole town, and added his own animations and sound effects.

He has spent eight months working on the game after teaching himself how to design apps using online tutorials and developer forums.

Daniel, who also created an app for fellow students and staff at Crossley Heath School, said: “I had quite a few ideas originally but I narrowed them down to this one, which I think is the best of the lot.

“All my mates at school played it and really enjoyed it and my parents have been really supportive too.

“I’m just really happy that it’s been approved by Apple and is on sale. I was originally intending to do it as a summer holidays project but it’s taken me eight months to complete alongside my school work.

“It’s been hard work but it’s all been worth it now.

“Hopefully I’ll make loads of money out of it - that’d be brilliant. I just hope it does really well.

“I’m thinking of bringing out a junior version for under ten’s and then I might go back to my other ideas and work on them.”
