.

.

Lloyds Banking Group is cutting 650 jobs with 144 of those in Halifax.

But, the bank is also creating new roles and says the net loss will be 310 nationally and 68 in Halifax.

The cuts are part of the strategic review announced by the bank in 2011 when it outlined plans to cut 15,000 jobs across the group.

So far, 12,410 jobs have gone.

Both the Copley and Trinity Road sites in Halifax are affected by the latest announcement.

The cuts will impact on the fraud and credit operations.

Meanwhile, 76 new jobs are being created in Halifax in business support which are expected to be filled by displaced staff.

Affected employees were briefed by line managers today.(Wed)

Since the strategic review around only a third of role reductions have led to people leaving the group through redundancy.
