The Design House Restaurant at Dean Clough, Halifax, has been awarded 3 AA Rosettes.
The only other West Yorkshire restaurant currently operating at that standard is the renowned Box Tree at Ilkley.
Eighteen restaurants have been elevated to 3AA Rosettes with more than half of those in London.
Chef/proprietor Lee Marshall, head chefs Ven Varley and Dave Duttine along with their staff are thrilled with the recognition.
“It’s superb news and massive for us and the hospitality industry,” said Mr Marshall.
“For such a small restaurant it has opened the eyes of the ‘big boys’ in London and will open a lot of doors.
“It’s been a hard work but we are now among an elite group of restaurants on a different level.”
Mr Marshall said unlike some other awards the AA ratings cover all-round excellence so the service and atmosphere also have to be outstanding.
AA inspectors described the Design House as having a “buzzy vibe, friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff and contemporary, inventive cooking.
“You can soak up the atmosphere perched on a tall white-leather stool at the central bar, before moving to your table to dine from either the a la carte or tasting menu.”
It said the two-course lunch menu was incredible value at £10.
